Preds goalie clearly living in the net.. [Apr. 18th, 2008|11:34 pm]

I'm surprised no one's caught this and posted it here. A little humor, especially after the great job by Ellis tonight. I dig the Onion and love watching the Preds, so...

Goalie Clearly Living In Net

NASHVILLE—After reporters and fans observed a number of personal belongings accumulating around the south goal in Nashville's Sommet Center, members of the Predators organization acknowledged Tuesday that goaltender Dan Ellis has been residing in the net since signing as a free agent last June.

Are the Preds TRYING to lose on purpose? [Jun. 22nd, 2007|06:53 pm]

How much more obvious can you get? Preds trade fantastic goalie for 3 crummy draft picks!

It is obvious that Leipold is done with the Preds. Ship them to Canada where they have already exceeded 14,000 season ticket seats sold to a team that doesn't even exist!
Now THAT is showing your team support!

Is the Moving Truck Booked? [Jun. 17th, 2007|09:17 pm]

Just wondering what your thoughts are about the possibility of the Preds packing up and heading north. Anyone?

I'm surprised there is nothing in the community from the past couple weekds addressing the purchase of the Preds by Jim Balsilie.

preds can't translate into post-season success [Apr. 21st, 2007|07:27 pm]

welcome to the central division, where you always need just 1 more piece

See if Forsberg will stick around for a contract in order to be dealt to bring bigger, harder hitting D men in. Suter's smarts, Weber's got a lot of all around skill and plays big, Hamhuis plays bigger than he is too. But the only thing missing still is 1 or two giant defensive minded D men who hit really, really hard.

last post-season, I saw offense as the problem, not so much size. This time it was size for sure, which was compounded by San Jose getting bigger with rock Rivet and Bill Guerin in front, not to mention Grier.

Preds are the Best Team in Hockey [Jan. 19th, 2007|06:07 pm]

Preds drop Columbus, claim NHL's top spot

I'm impressed.  I didn't think I would see this day so soon.  Especially after last season's disappointments.

Predator Playoff Mojo [Apr. 19th, 2006|05:54 pm]

[Current Mood |amusedamused]

So, we walked back to my truck parked out front of the Hermitage Hotel after the Detroit game last night.
And there on the courtyard in front of the First Tennessee building was: this!Collapse )

Adam, the Bell Captain at the hotel, informed us that a black suburban with a trailer had pulled up onto the courtyard and a couple of guys had shoved the ice out. Another guy stuck in the lawn sign and then they jumped back in the trailer and the truck peeled out.
He had no idea what it meant. After walking around the big pile of ice...Read more...Collapse )
...and taking another picture, I thought that it looked to be rink ice scraped up by the zamboni. I mean where else would one find a pile of freshly shaved ice in the middle of the street in Nashville in April?

So, naturally, we posed for pictures!Collapse )

Evidently, that is Playoff Mojo, Nashville style. Perhaps some offering to the hockey gods via First Tennessee, a major Preds sponsor? Wonder if other sponsors got gifts of zamboni ice...?

Anyone heard anything about this? Did anyone else see it?

Just a couple of things I loved seeing.

CNNSI.com has an article up under their paid section called "Nashville a Cup contender?"

Nashville is also listed as having the 5th best team in the NHL as an initial scouting report.

Check out http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/hockey/nhl/specials/preview/2005/scouting.reports/predators.html for a great article about some expectations for the team.
